The scheme for large investment projects "Contratti di Sviluppo” has multiple objectives, including reinforcing the economic and industrial system, as well as strategic entrepreneurial activities in economically less developed areas, improving the innovation capacity of undertakings, the access to financing, and the promotion of environmental protection.
This aid was first approved in 2015 (SA.41081). A modification approved in 2017 (SA.48248) prolonged the scheme until December 2020 and increased the annual budget from EUR 140 to EUR 450 million. A second modification approved in 2022 (SA.101250) further prolonged the scheme until December 2023 and increase the annual budget to EUR 528 million.
