The scheme is an important regional investment aid in Hungary. It provides investment support in the less developed regions of Hungary, within two main priority axes: increasing the competitiveness and productivity of SME’s and Research, technological development and innovation. The performance of the beneficiaries showed an increase in almost every analysed indicator. However, the scheme did not seem to be associated with an improving of survival rates of young companies. It has also emerged that the regional investment aid funded projects would have been implemented without the aid. Finally, it is shown that the objectives, the eligible activities and the co-financing rates were in line with the needs of the target group.
