The objective of the scheme is to provide access to NGA infrastructure capable of delivering speeds of at least 30Mbps to as many homes and businesses as possible at a UK-wide, regional, and/or local level. The scheme aims to minimise the "digital divide", accelerate the roll-out of NGA broadband, and help drive further economic, regional and UK-wide growth, producing further economic and social benefits. Phase 3 of the Superfast Broadband programme awarded contracts for GBP 391 million in public funding by mid-2020.
