The “Polish support scheme for energy-intensive users” was implemented by the Renewable Energy Act in February 2015. The scheme introduced an auction support system for producers of energy from renewable energy sources, yielding a significant change in supporting the generation of electricity from renewable sources and introducing competitiveness among auction participants. To begin with, the aid scheme was seeking to improve energy security and environmental protection, inter alia, as a result of an efficient use of renewable energy sources. In addition to this, the aid promoted a rational use of RES, the definition of mechanism and instruments aimed to support electricity generation in RES installations, and the creation of new jobs. Eventually, the scheme should have also ensured the use for energy purposes of products and residues from agriculture and industry.
