Taxe octroi de mer

Abstract

France has been granted approval for granting a State aid in the period 2022-2027 with an EC Decision of July 2022. The aid consists in applying a reduced rate (up to 50%) of excise duty on the release for consumption of traditional rum (up to an annual volume quota of 153,000 PAH) produced in the French outermost regions, the “DROMs” (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique and Réunion). The current scheme consists of the prolongation of previous reduced excise duties schemes in the DROM. The first scheme authorized by the Commission started in 1995 and the previous one (‘SA. 3868’) covered the period 2014-2020.
