LBV-plus is a first-come first-served subsidy disbursed by the Government of Netherlands to diary, pig, poultry and veal farms responsible for producing no less than 2,500 moles of nitrogen per year aiming to a structural and permanent reduction of nitrogen deposition on nitrogen-sensitive Natura 2000 sites. This objective is pursued through definitive and irrevocable destruction of production capacity, also involving the removal from market of production rights. To this end, a comprehensive budget of 1,820 million Euros has been allocated.
Further objectives are: permanent shrinking of diary, pig and poultry herds; reduction of greenhouse gas and particulate matter emissions; contribution to achieve the objectives of the Climate Agreement; decrease in manure production; improvement of the overall living environment (in terms of transports, smell and abandonment of buildings).
